Becki Tribby & Lori LeiserThis lecture will introduce you to the physiologic changes caused by a tracheostomy.   As a result of a tracheostomy placement, there must be compensation for the inability to speak, as well as being able to filter, warm, and humidify the air.  This lecture will review the types of devices used to provide compensation for speaking, as well as for humidification and warming of air.
