Photo of Shiva Bidar-SielaffChanging U.S. demographics have resulted in a significant population of first generation immigrants who have limited proficiency in the English language. Providing quality health care for this population presents unique challenges. In this lecture, we will present information on federal and non-federal regulations which address the needs of this population. We will also discuss and provide examples of the effective use of interpreters in the health care setting.
